Frog God Game Days Coming September 12 & 13

If you have played with me you would know I have a very specific love of Frog God Games and their setting the World of the Lost Lands. Last may they held “Game Days” on discord. With all the COVID and so many flocking to play online now instead of at their game tables and the conventions shut down, lots of players started going online to get their gaming fix. Frog God Games put on game days, with it was a special printed module they sold and had lots of great games to choose from in 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Swords & Wizardry.

The game I played in was written and run by Alice Peng. My girlfriend and I both managed to get into the same game. The module was titled Moon Daughter’s Fate. It is described as a module set in the far east utilizing Chinese mythology. I had a blast. Now, it is no secret there has been some more public discussion of Asian settings and specifically the old AD&D Oriental Adventures book. This adventure seemed to be a good one considering all this. It was great seeing a different approach. The adventure really embraced some classic D&D monsters and dangers that went along well with a few elements of Chinese Mythology. I strongly suggest getting a seat at Alice Peng’s table and playing the Moon Daughter’s Fate. You can do this with the next Frog God Game day coming up September 12th & 13th where she will be running it again.

We had per-generated characters to choose from, all with interesting backgrounds. I played the fighter. All the characters backgrounds seemed unique and gave us quite a bit to work with in playing the characters, they really got the imagination going. I don’t want to give away spoilers of the adventure itself, but I will say that there were some great unique approaches to the undead or ghosts that were drawn from Chinese mythology that really changed it up from your ordinary encounters you might be used to. I can’t wait to own this module, so my fingers are crossed that Frog God will be publishing it sooner than later.

I have only really played at my own table, or the tables of the other players in our group. I have not played a game at a convention. I never played online until April of this year. So, I found the opportunity to play with all these great DM’s at Frog God to be a great way to learn new DM skills for my table. Also, it’s a great change up to play with new DMs that I’ve never had the opportunity to play with. There will also be an exclusive Game Day module available, The Thief King’s Vault so snatch that one up while you have the chance.

Also, if you have not had a chance to play Swords & Wizardry, there are a lot of great S&W games being played that weekend. It would be the perfect opportunity to dip your toes into the system and get a feel for it. I have signed up for two games this time unlike last time, and I cannot wait to play. Hopefully, some of you might be able to make it. I will write a bit about the games I played in after the next game day, so keep your eyes here on the site for that.
